Thread: Fireplace switch non-powered

    Fireplace switch non-powered

Need some help with how to do this. I have a fireplace that I want to control with my 2gig panel. I had them put a wall switch to control the fireplace thinking that I could just use a micro switch then to do zwave. Apparently the wall switch is non-powered just a toggle on off. How can I control this switch.

I think you may be in luck, they make a Z-Wave toggle switch, I have not tried it but it should work fine, I can get a price for you in the AM but here is the info on it for now

Or could I just put the switch hidden behind a blank plate and control only with zwave?

Will that switch work without power? The location is a non-powered switch

I have never tried it, you may want to contact your Fireplace Manufacture, May be easier to just get a Remote for the fireplace?

maybe easier but not as much fun. Also, remote costs around $100. Would be nice to turn fireplace on from bed so I could warm the house up before getting out of bed. I will try it and let you know.
